Regional Planning

The Division undertakes research studies on topical issues pertaining to Regional Planning in India including issues related to the 73rd and 74th Constitutional Amendment Acts and renders technical assistance and advice to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs on various issues pertaining to urban transportation planning including preparation of policy notes, etc. It also offers comments to the Ministry of Panchayati Raj and Rural Development. The division has earlier prepared Perspective Plans / Development plans of different cities/regions. This division has completed reports on Perspective Plan of Bageshwar District (Uttarakhand), Perspective Plan of Jodhpur District (Rajasthan), Perspective Plan of Chandrapur District (Maharashtra), and Report on Environmental Imperative for planning a pilgrim city of Haridwar. It has also provided support in finalizing the report on India City Profile: Consultation Report – 2010, which was sponsored by the Kyoto University, Japan in co-operation with National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM), Ministry of Home Affairs, where TCPO was a partner. The division has completed reports on Comparative Transportation profile of Mega Cities, Comparative Transportation profile of Selected Metropolitan Cities in India and Digest on Research Studies on Urban Transportation in Metropolitan Cities. The division has been involved in scrutiny/appraisal/ examination of technical reports pertaining to urban transport received through the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Niti Aayog and other Central / State Government Departments.

Regional Planning Division is headed by Town and Country Planner and assisted by One Associate Town and Country Planner and Two Planning Officers.
